About Us

Keely

Keely grew up in the suburbs of Ontario. She enjoyed spending summers on Georgian Bay with her family, and there she fell in love with nature and being out on the water. Keely went to Trent University where she studied Environmental Studies and Resource Management, and spent a year abroad at Swansea University in Wales (where she met Pav). She spent a summer working Banff, Alberta, where she discovered her love for hiking and exploring, and where she first got the idea in her head to one day move to Vancouver Island.

Fast forward 3 years to 2019 and she moved to Vancouver Island with Pav to start a new life. Keely loves to read, clean, hike, lift weights, camp, and of course spend time on the water- sailing, paddle boarding, and zipping around on the dinghy.

Pavel

Pavel was born by the sea and has always lived in coastal or near coastal towns. He grew up in the UK and moved to Canada in 2019 on a IEC working holiday visa and is now a Canadian Citizen. He has always been drawn to the water and wanted to learn to sail in his youth. He went to Swansea University where he studied Mechanical Engineering (ironically knew little about engines until getting a boat) and met Keely.

Pav has always enjoyed the outdoors with multi-day hikes, exploring, surfing and now sailing. He enjoys the contrast of low maintenance remote camping and hiking with a perfect summer sunset in fresh clothes with a beverage in hand. The tinkering on endless projects (sometimes wishing it would end..) can be both satisfying and enjoyable, until its not! The biggest boat and life lesson learnt is nothing will ever be 100% ready, if its safe and 80% good to go, that’s enough.
